Welcome to
Life on Kwajalein, RMI
For Newest Pages
Hi, I'm Lexy and I live on the lagoon on a tropical island with my husband "Cowboy" and our cat,    We are located in the Pacific Ocean near the equator in the Marshall Islands.

We have three sons.  One is in
Texas taking care of things while we are on a very long "working" vacation.   The other two are now out here, too.

Life on the island is slow and simple.  We don't have a Wal-Mart and we don't buy gas for cars, because we ride bicycles to work.  The salt air is tough on our bikes, as one only lasts about a year.  We use them for transportation, hauling groceries from the store, and loading them with fresh fish after a trip to deep-sea fishing trip using handlines.
The color of the water here is the deepest blue, but closer to "the wall" nearer the reef, it turns a gorgeous shade of turquoise.  The "wall" descends 2000 to 3000 meters just about straight down.  The shape of Kwaj looks kind of like a boomerang and the
outer-island chain encircles the lagoon.     Kwaj is the largest saltwater Atoll in the world.  The rectangular pools you see on the reef were dug during Japan's occupation in WWII for protection from landing craft.
We enjoy many beach parties, sunrises, and sunsets. There is always an occasion to cook outdoors. We have been sailing, too.
It may be someone's birthday, someone leaving the island, or just returning from vacation, we gather frequently to put something on the grill and enjoy our
adopted family.

Cowboy works in utilities at the
powerplant and I work in housing services at the furniture warehouse.
