Our Family

Welcome to the official reunion website of the Jenkins Family.

Our earliest Jenkins ancestor was named John Jenkins, born bet. 1838-1839 in South Carolina. He lived most of his life in Randolph Co.(Cuthbert), Ga. Not much information exists pertaining to Miley, except that she was born somewhere in Georgia and enslaved within the Randolph Co. area. John & Miley married prior to the Civil War and had 4 children, Alfred (b. 1860), John,Jr. (b. 1862), Perry (b. ca. 1865-67) & Josephine (b. 1868). Miley passed away prior to 1880. John was remarried to Mandy. Their children were Arthur, Walter, Vanessa, Viola and Lucius.

The descendants of Alfred & John Jenkins have been hosting reunions annually. However, we do not have information on the descendants of their other named siblings. Josephine passed as a child & Arthur Jenkins did not have any children. If you think you are related to any of the aforementioned individuals, we'd sure love to hear from you!

The Reunion in Jacksonville, Florida for 2000 was attended by approximately 275 people. The Jacksonville planning committee did a wonderful job of bringing family together from all over the country in fellowship. The family appreciates all of the hard work by all who participated in the 2000 reunion.

There will not be a reunion plan for 2001. However, family members in Georgia are working on a plan to bring the family together for July, 2002. Once they have decided on the location, you will be informed of the details.

We would like to thank everyone who attended the Jenkins Family Reunion for 2000, for making the event memorable and successful.

The first photo shown above is of John & Jesse Jenkins (two of John & Ellen Rogers-Jenkins'three sons. Their nic names were Ned & Bubba. Pictured below them are 7 of their 10 sisters, (beginning top left: Miley "Sug", Princella, Jurushia, Daisy Lee "Sweetie" (bottom left-right) Emma "Big Sister", Pearl and Lizzie. The photo of the sisters was taken in 1957 in Jacksonville during the week they buried their mother.

I would like to thank Pearl Jenkins-Lowe and Alice Jenkins-Wilson for their contribution of the photo of the brothers.

NOTE: If you have any pictures you would like to see displayed, please leave us a message and we'll contact you. All you need to do is send a legible copy.

In July, we did not have an opportunity to collect recipes for a project that will enable the family to raise funds for future reunions. If you have any that have been passed down to you, please submit them (it is not too late), even if you have one of your own creation, that's fine too.

This site is still under construction, so please visit again soon for future updates.
