NEWS OF THE STONE (August '03)
In order to appreciate the new schedule and where this team might be headed we should look at some history. In the early 80's The Blackstones were a top flight team that celebrated many victories. but by the mid 80's enthusiasm waned. The club went inactive. In the late 80's the Lexington Blackstones were reformed. Quickly the team made a name for itself and by 1991 The Blackstones took home the Midwest Junior Cup Championship.  In the 90's the Blackstones went to the Div. II playoffs 4 times and the 2001 season record of  7-1 was a tremendous effort. At the same time 2002's record of 3-2-2 was infuriating but competetive. We have had some excellent campaigns over the years and even in a bad year, we still play .500 rugby.  Not too bad when you consider we play teams from cities with populations in the millions with the resulting larger recruiting pools. BUT our goal is to always get better. You get better by doing everything better. The most important thing that we have to do is recruit new talented players - new and used alike! Remember, although not everybody gets to play A-side, everybody does get to play!!
