The first opponent proved the most formidable, Grand Rapids B side. Made up of a very young and athletic set of players the Stones were forced to play their best game of the day early. At the end the scoreboard read 19-0 but the game was much closer than the final score appeared. With one solid victory under our belts the Stones crused to 4-0 record taking out Dayton, Huntington, and the Kelts along the way. Many thanks go out to Milky Way Dave, Whey Hon, Andrew, Joe, Chachi, Gary (who one spectator proclaimed to be a superstar), Peta, Boonie, Vince, and Duece. The weekend would prove to be a poper warm up for Cape Fear. |

A small but very active Stone side was able to score at will against the much bigger teams from N.C. Frist day man of the match honors went to 4.2, John Maines, and Julio. All three came and played beyond expectations to keep the intensity levels high throughout all the games. Dave came up big late in the game taking a nice pass from Tony and touching down the try for a 28-14 victory into the finals vs. defending champion Moose Kunckles. The final couldn't have started off worse for the Stones, turning the ball over on the opening kickoff and Moose Kunckles scoring seconds later, getting the large crowd fired up. On the the next kickoff Gary, I only play as hard as I have to, Anderson made up for his defensive lasp moments before by picking the ball up from a ruck and dashing 75m past all the defenders to even up the score. Gary's individual effort inspired the team, to roll in three more tries by half time. The second half saw Moose Kunckles gain no offensive possesion and the Stones touched the ball down three more times for a final score of 33-5. Tournement MVP honors were shared between Vince Gross and Adam "Duece" Malone for the outstading effort and play.
