Lexi at seven weeks old, a chubby wrinkled Boxer puppy with floppy ears, a pointed head and no name. She laid on Mom's shoulder all the way home and whimpered about being taken away from her mama too soon. She kept me awake for three nights in a row. I'm not sure why I selected the name Lexi. I just liked the sound of it.
At four months old, Lexi had her own wading pool, and she made good use of it. Her favorite action was jumping into it, or pushing her ball around it with her nose.
At five or six months old, Lexi was diagnosed with hip dysplasia, but you would never know it to look at her. With help from the mediciation the vet gave her, she was the picture of health, active and playful.
She was a great watchdog, not because she was ferocious, but if anyone came into the yard univited, all she had to do was give him "that look", and he instantly froze, afraid to move!
Lexi loved this chain collar and wore it like a necklace. If I took it off of her, she would jump along behind me trying to get her head back into it!
As she got older, Lexi took to spending more time indoors. Everyone hated this chair, so it became "Lexi's chair", and she took to it instantly. She would spend hours enjoying the comfort of the soft cushy chair.
This is one of the last pictures taken of my girl. So sad to see your pets get old, and her face was growing quite gray. Her hips were starting to bother her, and the vet switched to Rimadyl when the pharmacutical ceased making the medicine she was originally on. Unfortunately, a side affect of Rimadyl is that it can cause liver damage, and that is what happened. She was also diagnosed with Cushing's Disease. Finally, two months shy of her eleventh birthday, I had to make the painful decision to end her suffering.
