When I think of how life used to be
Always walking in the shadows

A boy in his pajamas sat on the windowsill, staring into the darkness of the night. The tufts of snow fell off the roof and into the large banks below. His bright green eyes flicked back and forth as he watched small, solo flakes drift down from the sky.

Christmas always used to depress him, especially during his existence with the Dursleys. They neglected to acknowledge him on what was supposed to be the most family oriented day of the year. They werent even decent enough to wish him a Merry Christmas.

A lot had changed since then.

Now I look at what youve given me
I feel like dancing on my tiptoes

He pressed his forehead to the cool window and pulled his knees tighter to his chest. He could hear deep breathing and a subtle snore in the room. He smirked and turned back to the window. He remembered how things were once upon a time.

But now he felt a complete sense of euphoria and was at peace with himself. Life, for the first time in many years, was perfect.

There was a great reason for it, as well.

I must say every day I wake
And realize you're by my side

He took his glasses off and rubbed at his eyes. He was exhausted and wanted to go back to bed, but his mind didnt want him to sleep. His body was ready to collapse, but his mind was working a million miles a minute. It was Christmas Eve and things were usually a bunch of hustle and bustle anyway. The next day, after he finished opening his own presents, he had places to go and things to do.

Of course, no one had warned him about that at the beginning, but it was all right. Everything was perfect now, and he had Ginny Weasley to thank for it. His life suddenly made sense and he owed it all to her.

You know Im truly

Blessed
For everything youve given me
Blessed
For all the tenderness you show
Do my best
With every breath thats in me
Blessed
To make sure you never go

It was in his fifth year at Hogwarts that things started to get really crazy. All the madness at school with Professor Umbridge, the lack of Ministry participation in the war, the nightmares, the searing pains in his scar, and learning about the Prophecy had really put him off balance. It was at during this year that hed finally discovered what a wonderful companion Ginny really was. She had been there right through it all.

There are times that test your faith
Till you think you might surrender

She was right there when they went to the Ministry into the Department of Mysteries. She was adamant about helping. It was amazing how passionate she became. She wasnt little Ginny all of a sudden. She was someone hed never seen before, someone hed just recognized in a new light.

The same light he had shone on Cho that year. Thinking that way about Ginny had scared him very much. It wasnt normal.

And baby Im, Im not ashamed to say
That my hopes were growing slender

Everything had seemed so bleak after Sirius had died. All he wanted to do was sit around and think about his passing. Hed been so close to leaving the Dursleys forever, hed had everything with Sirius. Sirius was the father hed never had.

And they took him away too.

Harry closed his eyes shut tightly. Even now the memory of Sirius falling through the veil was so fresh in his memory that it caused him the same pain. Tears were clouding his vision of the snow falling lightly to the ground. What was he going to do?

He remembered Ginny had been there. That was when he fell in love with her

You walked by in the nick of time
Looking like an answered prayer

That was when he knew. When Ginny heard him sobbing in Rons room at the end of the summer, shed ventured in. All the Weasleys were on constant surveillance of him and made sure not to ask stupid questions or mention anything. He hated how everyone walked on eggshells around him.

Ginny was the only one bold enough to come forth and ask him why he was crying. She asked him what was wrong and told him that she was there to listen. She wasnt going to judge him, she wasnt going to offer advice he didnt need, and she wasnt going to walk away from him. She wanted to help.

Harry removed his glasses just as he had done that exact day. Hed let the tears come forward as he confessed everything to Ginny. He told her he was scared, he wanted Sirius back, he didnt want to have to murder someone, and he didnt want to live life in fear of his name anymore. He wanted to be normal, he wanted to be loved for who he was.

Ginny had blinked. Then shed confessed everything to him.

You know Im truly

Blessed
For everything youve given me
Blessed
For all the tenderness you show
Do my best
With every breath thats in me
Blessed
To make sure you never go

Harry, someone does love you for who you are. My entire family. They dont care if youre the Famous Harry Potter, The-Boy-Who-Lived. They could care less. After everything thats happened, theyve taken you into their hearts and loved you. I admit, I had a hero worship thing. Harry scoffed at this and then smiled. It was the first time all summer he had done so. She pursed her lips.
Well, can you honestly blame me? Youre wonderful! I never knew someone so wonderful even existed! Youre selfless, generous, giving, you have a heart of gold, and the bravery of someone whos seen too much for your age. I fell in love with The-Boy-Who-Lived when I was six, but I fell in love with Harry when I was twelve.

Harry watched her in amazement. She was so honest and so vulnerable all at the same time. He couldnt help but feel the exact same way.

Hed only done it once before, but this time, it was definitely going to mean something. He placed his hand on Ginnys cheek, which was warm and soft under his fingers, and stared deep into her chocolate eyes. Her breath caught as his eyes fluttered close.

Blessed
With love and understanding
Blessed
When I hear you call my name
Do my best
With faith thats never ending
Blessed
To make sure you feel the same

Harry?

Harry jumped up at the voice. He put his glasses back on. Hed been lost in the wonderful memory and had forgotten where he was. He smiled tenderly at the person whod called him. Yes, love?

Ginny grabbed her bathrobe, hopped out of bed, and walked over to the window. She looked worn and disheveled. What are you doing?

Harry shrugged, looking back to the snow. Thinking.

About what? Ginny asked, smirking at him.

Our first kiss, he answered, standing up and taking her in his arms. She rested her head on his chest happily.

That was quite a day.

Ill say.

They remained in their embrace for a few more minutes before Ginny cleared her throat. Wed better get some sleep. We have a full day tomorrow. We have to be at my parents by noon. Dinner is at three.

I dont understand how your mother can cook a huge meal at three in the afternoon and call it dinner, he said playfully, following her back to bed.

Since when has my mother ever made sense?

Harry smiled. Never. But thats why I love her. And you.

Deep inside of me
You fill me with your gentle touch
I know Im truly

Ginny kissed Harry lovingly on the lips and rested her head on his chest. Youre definitely a Weasley. You can put up with my family
and still have the guts to say you love them.

Well, in that case, youre definitely a Potter. Youre brave enough to face your family and come back home to me.

Ginny smiled, wrapping her arms around Harry happily. And I wouldnt have it any other way. Now lets get to sleep before Tyler thinks its time to open presents.

Harry laughed. He is his mothers son.

Go to sleep.
