A large part of your monthly budget will be food expenses. These expenses include groceries, lunch at the office cafeteria, and dining out.
To determine how much you might spend a month on groceries, you will need to do some research. This research can be done at your local grocery store or at one of the on-line grocery sites listed below.
Before going to either a store or a web site, make a list of the things you eat every day. Then make a list of the things you might eat a few times a week. Be sure to include condiments and seasonings on this second list. In addition to food, include toiletry and paper goods items on your lists.
The following web sites will help you to research prices of food, toiletry, and paper goods items.
A great way to save money on food is to use coupons. Coupons come in many forms: traditional paper coupons typically found in the inserts of the Sunday paper, clip-less coupons electronically connected to a specific store's frequent shopper's card, or on-line coupons activated at a specific store's web site.
Another popular money saving technique is to buy items you consume often at bulk-food or warehouse stores. These stores include Costco and BJ's.
