History of

South Lewiston Baptist  Church

In 1953, God began the good work of raising up a local church to represent the Lord Jesus Christ in the Lewiston area.  The congregation first met at the Old Clough Meeting House and then moved to its present location.  For some 35 years under the leadership of Rev. Anthony Lombardi, many people were converted and the Fellowship increased in spiritual and numerical growth.  There was and continues to be a non-compromising stand for and commitment to the proclaiming of the Word of God as the heart of the entire ministry in regards to instruction, standards, and vision.  The ministry of S.L.B.C. since its inception has embraced the responsibility of the Church to communicate the Gospel locally, nationally, and worldwide.

Without changing its message or its commitment to the Word of God and the Cross of Jesus Christ, South Lewiston Baptist has renewed its vision or the time remaining before Jesus comes.  The vision of this ministry will continue to be to win lost people to Jesus Christ, and nurture them, and train them to reproduce themselves in the lives' of others.
