SLBC Statement of Faith

WE Believe...

The Holy Bible, God's Word is verbally inspired by God, and that it is infallible, inerrant, and the sole, Supreme, and final authority for faith and practice.

That God is one - eternally existing in three persons.  God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

In Jesus Christ, who became man without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of a virgin, who was sinless in nature and in act.

That Man was created in God's image with the power to choose to obey or disobey God.  Man through disobedience chose sin, and has since been totally depraved and utterly unable to remedy his lost condition of sinfulness and the consequences of spiritual and physical death.

Man's only hope is what God planned and what Jesus Christ accomplished when He voluntarily died for man's sins, shedding His blood on the cross as a perfect substitute for every person.

That God accepted that payment for sin and is evidenced by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and through His Ascension into Heaven, being an ever-present intercessor and mediator between God and me. 

That each person must repent of his sins and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior, being regenerated by the Holy Spirit becoming a child of God.
