M-1 GARAND  CAL .30-06 RIFLE
Standard issue rifle, first adopted by the United States Army in 1936, the M-1 was not as light as the M-1 Carbine, nor did it have the volume of fire like the Thompson, however, its 8 round, clip fed, gas-operated, semi-automatic operating system was extremely reliable & in the hands of a highly skilled paratrooper could bring accurate fires against the enemy; it most cases it was broken down into upper & lower receivers for airborne operations & packed in the "Griswold Bag" which was secured behind the reserve & belly band on the T-5 & T-7 parachutes, although some Troopers were known to jump it "assembled!"
