Day 14-16: July 17-19, 2003
Trip to Maine...
The purpose of this trip was to photograph as many lighthouses as possible. I stayed with a friend and spent one full day visiting lighthouses, which started in Bar Harbor. I ran into very heavy traffic on the roads to the lighthouses and that afternoon I ran into a very severe thunderstorm. I only photographed a few lighthouses. I suggest photographing the lighthouses from a kayak!!!! That will be my next trip.  However, I did enjoy the Lobster my last night in Maine!!!!!
Bass Harbor Light
Cape Neddick (Nubble) Light -  (1879) This light stands 40 feet high and 92 feet above the sea. The first keeper was NH native Nathaniel Ottersen.  Captain Joseph Smith recommended the construction of the light because of the wreck of the "Isidore".
Cape Neddick (Nubble) Light - Photo taken from Route 1 heading north...typical Maine fog...
Portland Head Light- (1787) This is one of the oldest lighthouses in the nation and was ordered by President George Washington. Jonathan Bryant and John Nichols constructed the lighthouse using local materials.  They had 4 years to build the light.  The first light keeper was Joseph Greenleaf.
