Bondra 12 Right Wing Height 6-0 Note: I edit this page every month. |
| Hailing from Luck, Ukraine, Bondra
entered the 1990 Entry Draft an unknown. But after Bondra increased his goal
production by 25 from his first to his third years in the NHL, the hockey
world took notice of the Washington Capitals' ninth pick (156th overall) in
the 1990 NHL Entry Draft. He played his first game Oct. 5 that year and
scored his first goal Oct. 17 against the New Jersey Devils. Due in large
part to his smooth, fluid skating, Bondra quickly became one of the league's
premier goal scorers and the cornerstone of the Capitals. He won the NHL's
goal-scoring title in 1995 and 1998, when he scored 52 goals. A standout on
special teams, Bondra is the Caps' all-time leader in shorthanded goals. He
finished with a positive plus-minus rating seven straight seasons from
1991-1997.
