Oliver Stone Article

I read a good article today, an interview with Oliver Stone on his new World Trade Center movie.

It raises an interesting point: while Stone is being praised by conservative America for his seemingly uncharicteristic patriotism in his new movie, Mel Gibson has become the subject of ruthless criticism for his drunken anti-semitism. This is a complete role reversal from a few years ago when Gibson was the religious right's darling and Stone was toted as anti-American.

It brings to light the fickle nature of the American media (and public) and our hastiness to polarize everyone and everything into red and blue. We don't think outside party lines, and we don't credit any public figure (politician, director, musician) with the ability to do so either.

This is further supported by Joe Liberman's political woes right now. Can't a democrat support the war for certain reasons and still be a democrat? Apparently not.
