I once ran across this
list of Indications of demonic possession and thought it to be quite funny,
so I felt that I should add my thoughts in regards to the list.
- To think oneself possessed. ~Who in their right mind would think that they are possessed?
UNLESS they KNOW they are possessed, by perhaps ASKING one to possess them.
Then there is the fact of schizophrenia. They have multiple personalities.
In History, people once thought that people with all mental disorders were
possessed so they performed exorcisms.
- To lead a wicked life.
To live outside the rules of society ~ So, basically,
ANYONE that breaks ANY law is possessed?? To do anything that is against society?
To not live how they want you to live? I suppose that everyone that is in
jail or prison is possessed? Come on now, is this really accurate?
- To be presently ill,
falling into heavy sleep and vomiting strange objects. ~
Watch what you eat and you will not be vomiting strange objects. Also, go
to the Docs and he will be able to tell you what you have and how to cure
it, if you sleep to long there has to be a reason, perhaps, you are sick,
or perhaps you are too tired and haven't had much sleep in the preceeding
days??
- To blaspheme. ~
OK, here we go, what in the world, to blapheme, well anyone can do that and
most people have done that at least once in their lives, so this one cannot
be even close to being accurate.
- To make a pact with
the devil. ~ Just because one makes a pact with a deity
does not mean that they are possessed by a demon. It means that they have
made an oath, an agreement, signed a contract. When one gets married does
it mean that the wife is inside the husband?? nope. It meant that they are
joined together for life, but not one being.
- To be troubled by spirits. ~ What type of spirits? This reminds me of polterguist,
did the little girl in the movie make a pact with the devil? She wasnt possessed,
they wanted her to lead them to the lights.... nothing more then that.
- To show a frightening
and horrible countenance. ~ hu? Can't people simply
be themselves??
- To be tired of living
~ Everyone can be tired of living, it doesnt mean they
are possessed in the slightest bit, it means they dont like their lives...
- To be uncontrollably
violent ~ There are some people out there that cannot
control their behaviors for various reasons, or perhaps they just do not want
to control them, it doesnt matter honestly... Still it doesnt mean they are
possessed.
- To make sounds and movements
like an animal. ~ hmm, this one makes you think, considering,
there are some people out there that makes animal sounds when they are eating,
having sex, or even hunting, or farmers make the sounds in order to get their
herds or flocks back to the barn at times.
To me,
all of these "indications" are all false, they are said as reasons
in which to scare people into acting properly or in which people want others
to act and if they do not then there are going to be certain precautions in
which to deal with. One of those just happens to be a exorcism.
Just because
people do have those indications above does not mean they are possessed, this
is a known fact! Everyone has at least one time in thier lives done the above
things at least one time. Whether they want to admit it or not.
Spirit Possession
is a voluntary, culturally sanctioned displacement of personality. The spirits
(deities, demons, angels, advanced entities, or the dead) are invited to enter
a human being to educate, communicate or because they are simply unaware they
are dead and are heeding help in passing to the next realm. Spirit possession
aids in seeing the future, prophecy, and healing. The pagan rite of drawing
down the moon involves this act. Spirit possession can mean a number of things,
according to religious preferences and beliefs: 1.) the god has found a person
worthy, permeating daily life among many other reasons.
In Christianity, spirit possession means, filled with the Holy Spirit.
