Mr Deeds
by Luke Grinder
Before I do my review of Mr Deeds, let me first introduce myself. I am Luke Grinder and this is my first online movie critique. Secondly, I would like to comment on the rating system that I will be using - The Cooperman 4 point scale. In all honesty, I have a hard time with the format of this rating system; however, the inventor, Mr Cooperman, is a good friend of mine and has done an excellent job of getting his website together. The tricky thing about the Cooperman 4 point scale is that it is not out of 4, it is out of 20. In addition, in order for the movie to score well, the movie must indulge in the entire Cooperman spectrum. The movie must have excellent Quality, Entertainment, Comedy and Nudity.

Onto the movie.. I didn't think I was ever going to have to watch this movie, but Bourne Identity and Minority report were sold out. I had very low expectations going into this movie so I ended up having a good time. In my mind Adam Sandler has a thick skin, he could care less about how poor of a movie he's going to make, he just makes it. If you think you were going to get something more original than a water boy turned college football star, a hockey goon turned golfer, a loser turned decent young father, or a moron completing his elementary school - good luck. This is a story about a rural pizza boy who inherits 40 billion dollars from his "uncle". He goes to New York to collect, falls in love with a spineless reporter, finds out the reporter was duping him, gives his inheritance away to American Negro College Fund, goes back home, the reporter follows him home to convince him she's worthy of his love, goes back to New York, blah blah..... Apparently this was a remake Frank Capra's 1936 comedy "Mr. Deeds Goes to Town." Don't pretend to care, Adam Sandler would have done better to use his own material. The best part about the movie was the butler, Emilio, played by an actor who deserves far better - Mr. John Turturro. He's so sneaky.

Quality - 2/5 ... no comment needed

Entertainment- 4/5 ... That damn Adam Sandler keeps you entertained

Comedy- 4/5... John Turturro is both creepy, sneaky and funny

Nudity - 0/5... Winona's melons, although noticeable, were never on display, oh yeah and there's an ass shot of some overweight man who reminded me of Howie Mandel.

10/20 = 2/4

One note. Never put too much mustard on your hot dog and then eat in a dark theatre. You'll end up spilling mustard all over your new Gap T-shirt.

Adios,

Ginda
