This movie is a joy to watch, partially because you enter the movie theatre expecting nothing but cotton candy and sure enough, you get a grand tour of candyland.

There is a part of all of us that would like to throw everything aside and live in Hawaii, surfing every day in hopes of becoming the best surfer in the whole wide world. This is essentially the plot of this poofter - a young woman who is raising her younger sister (because her mom is living in Vegas with her latest husband), dreams of winning the Pipeline champion ship while working as a chambermaid cleaning up other people's vomit and condoms. Funnily enough, even though she's barely got enough money to buy hoo hoo's for breakfast she manages to have a bungalow right on the beach. She eventually gets fired from her job and ends up teaching a pro-football player on vacation how to surf - that initiates the love story which is fairly bland and provides for some pseudo-emotional moments which includes some Lesbian undertones conveyed by her butchy roomate who appears resentful of her relationship with the boy. She eventually arrives at the Pipeline Championship but she's a little shakey in her abilities - and who would blame her as she was almost killed three years ago in an amateur competition.

1) Quality - The acting of the women is not bad. However, the local hawaiian actors are stiff and the representative from Billabong is just down right attrocious. The script itself is nothing spectacular and seems to follow the predictable formula of girl-with-everything-against-her meets boy and overcomes fear to compete in surfing competition. However, you'd be kidding yourself if you really expected anything different. That being said, you get a fantasy ride for an hour and a half of picturing yourself surfing little secluded beaches during the day and partying with surfer dudes at night.
Rating: 3/5

2) Entertainment - Very entertaining, including the representative from Billabong whose laboured line delivery we imitated all the way home from the movie.
Rating: 4/5

3) Comedy - Not much of this. Except for the representative from Billabong. That was funny.
Rating: 1/5

4) Nudity - the surprise of the evening. I thought there would be some nakedness, but no. Girls in bikinis and a fat black football player in a red speedo was all they were showing.
Rating: 0/5

Total rating: 8/20. Not such a good mark but definitely worth a see either on cheap night or after it's on video.
