C4

The C5 is the most sophisticated Corvette yet developed. And also the fastest (excluding the ZR-1 C4). Its light weight and new engine makes it very fast and nimble. Runflat tires remove the need for a spare adding to the weight loss. These Goodyear-Runflat tires can go for 200 miles at 55 mph while flat. Also the tires are larger, now 18 inches in diameter in back, and 17 in front.

    C5 Z06 2001 Statistics

    The first Z06 was a lightweight race inspired Corvette way back in 1963. This Z06 is also lighter and alot quicker than the standard Vette. The weight loss comes mostly from some of the following: no more "runflats" -24 lb, titanium exhaust system -17.6 lb and the windshield and rear glass windows were thinned. All together losing 103 lb. Also it got a new engine a version of the LS1 the LS6. Exterior Differances include: a fixed-roof hardtop body, Z06-specific wheels, new front fascia grille inserts, functional rear brake cooling ducts, and titanium mufflers and tailpipes.

    LS6 version of the LS1 engine. Modified block casting to alleviate crankcase pressures, cam with increased lift and duration allowing increased breathing, higher compression, stronger valve springs, higher redline, larger fuel injectors, and new intake manifold for better airflow.
