| Humans are the only species which drinks the breast milk of another species. Yet we still accept the claim that "milk is natural". The concept of drinking a cow's milk is so widely accepted an practiced. Why? Because most of us do it, and "whatever is common is right." Well, to get the milk from a cow, the cow is artificailly inseminated, and then gives birth to a calf. The newborn calf is separated from its mother usually the same day that it is born. Then, the milk that was intended for a fast growing baby calf is milked with a machine and used for human consumption. Milk intended for a fast growing baby cow is comsumed by human adults. Yuck! What if we drank milk in its natural state? When milk comes out of an utter, it is warm, chunky and rich. I doubt many people would drink it in this state. We filter it, pasturize it, and refrigerate it, making it an unnatural substance. The widespread use of cow milk can be attributed to the brainwashing of our socity. We are delivered clever TV commercials asking "Got Milk?" Our school hallways are plastered with milk promoting posters, and our parents are encouraging us to "drink milk for strong bones, honey." There is a huge dairy industry, and their motivation for getting us to use their product may not be so wholesome. I believe the only motivation they have for clogging our arteries with dairy is for the money. Face it, only 1% of the American population is Vegan, so the dairy industry must be striking it rich. |
