At present details are sketchy. But the buzz around the BBC offices is that the storyline was to involve Martin Fowler finding a twenty pound note while in the cemetery after his older brother Mark dies horribly after contracting HIV which will become full blown AIDS when he leaves the show only for him to get shot as he walks across the road from the Queen Vic on his return with this only seconds before being run over by Sharon who will then kill herself after being unable to deal with the trauma. Fans of the show have said that lifting the tone of the show will detract from its primary purpose which is to make everybody who watches it miserable as possible. 

One such fan Chris Dickens questioned the whole credibility of the show upon hearing the news. "Whatever next ?" he asked "If they make a drastic change such as this, where will it end ? A lottery win ? A couple living together without at least 100000 problems to deal with ?" he then told some lies about how he was going to star in Eastenders, but decided against it to continue his career in Aberthaw, after which he added "I usually make my friends wait for hours while I watch this show when we are supposed to be going somewhere, but if they make this change I might not even bother, instead i might just whack off 2 or 3 times more a week"

Bosses of the BBC show have said that the rumors are unfounded but then completely contradicted themselves when they said that they intended to counteract this storyline by having the Fowler household burgled and then burnt to the ground while Martin celebrates his "big find" in the Queen Vic, where he will later be stabbed.
