Where does the Bible tell
us the Holy Spirit is one of the three Persons of the Trinity?
Mr. Ray's argument is irrelevant, immaterial and incompetent. One cannot
disprove sola scriptura because it doesn't use technical terms theologians
invent.
The Scripture clearly reveal God is one infinite ocean
of essence in which subsists Three Persons.
The data confirming that teaching is clear and convincing, and most
importantly, the witness of the Holy Spirit it be received is distinct and
palpable.
I always chuckle when Catholic apologists try to take the credit for Nicene Trinitarianism, when it was Athanasius, who was Orthodox
Coptic Christian, who had to convince other mostly Orthodox bishops it was
true.
Rome almost sided with Arius, they had to be convinced.
Back to Steve's Question:
Its deducible from:
NKJ Matthew 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
A name in scripture is more than a label, its a
description of what is named, revealing its contents or its effects. Therefore
as the Father is "a Person" and the Son is "a Person" the
Holy Spirit must be "a Person," otherwise He could NOT be listed
subsisting in the same manner as the Father and the Son.
To illustrate this point: "Sitting in the car are the Father, the Son, and
the force."
An impersonal force cannot be mentioned as being in the car in the same way as
people are.
Clearly...
God is One in Three Persons, in blessed Trinity.
It was this very truth about the Holy Spirit that convinced me the Jehovah's
Witnesses were wrong about everything:.
Acts 13:2 As they were publicly ministering to Jehovah
and fasting, the holy spirit said:
"Of all persons set Barnabas and Saul apart for me for the work to which I
have called them.-Jehovah's Witnesses New World Translation. (WatchTower Bible & Tract Society).
God the Holy Spirit opened my mind to receive this truth of scripture...notice
the personal pronouns "I" "Me." Obviously only a person can
say "I" or "me."
The Tradition Stephen Ray believes so authoritative, can't even convert one
cafeteria Catholic.
It certainly wouldn't have had any impact upon me as a Jehovah's Witness.....(just like it doesn't today)...
The proof Catholic Tradition lacks the convincing power of God's Holy Spirit is
in the fact Mr. Ray and crew aren't walking around quoting their Teaching
Authority....
"Thus saith the Grand Wazoo
sitting in the chair...."
We'd all go to sleep.
Scripture, in huge contrast, is authenticated by
God and powerfully convicts:
Jeremiah 23:
29 "Is not My word like a fire?" says the LORD,
"And like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?
30 " Therefore behold, I am against the prophets," says the LORD,
"who steal My words every one
from his neighbor.
Watch out you magisteriums....ripping off the words
of other men and declaring its the Word of God...The
King is coming....
