2) Other than the
specific command to John to pen the Revelation, where did Jesus tell His
apostles to write anything down and compile it into an authoritative book?
WHY "other than" Revelation 1:11
"What thou seest, write in a book".
It proves Jesus wanted His words preserved for future generations in an
authoritative book, and Steve Ray hopes you won't notice.
If Jesus didn't care about the book's authority, then it would not matter if it
was written down.....or if the words are true and faithful:
KJV Revelation 21:5 ... And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true
and faithful...
God would not command "true and faithful" words be written in a book
having no authority.
If Jesus didn't want an authoritative book, then He would permit others add to
it whatever they will:
Rev 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth
the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things,
God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19 And if any
man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take
away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the
things which are written in this book. 20 He which testifieth
these things saith, Surely I
come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. 21 The grace of our Lord Jesus
Christ be with you all. Amen.
Must God command us to breathe? Of
course not.
In the same manner, God knows His Word will be written down in an authoritative
book without commanding it.
The few times God commanded a particular saying be written was either for
emphasis or to communicate the permanence of a decree:
Exodus 17:14 And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book,
and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the
remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.
Moses didn't conclude from this he was not to write God's words in an
authoritative book.
He wrote the first five books of the Bible, including those containing
"the Law."
God didn't have to command Moses write an authoritative book, He knew he would.
