19) Protestants usually
claim that they all agree “on the important things.” Who is able to decide
authoritatively what is important in the Christian faith and what is not?
The apostles:
Romans 10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee,
even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we
preach; 9 That if thou shalt
confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt
believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from
the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart
man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto
salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
We shall not be ashamed if we believe Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the
Living God....once achieving that....what else is equally
"important?"
Nothing.
When Protestant say we agree on all the important
things, that means we agree Jesus Christ is LORD, Son of the living God, and
that God the Father raised Jesus up physically from the dead. Those things are "the
important things."
