Creating a Textured Background in PSP7

 

  1. Go to File.  Click on New.  A New Image box appears.  Set the width for 100. Set the height for 100.  Set it for pixels. Set it for white background.  Click OK.
  2. Go to Colors and click.  Click on Grey Scale.
  3. Go to Effects and click.  Click on noise. Then, click on Add.  Click on uniform. Click OK.
  4. Go to Layers and click. Click on New Raster Layer. Click OK.
  5. Go to Colors and click. Scroll down to Increase Color Depth/16 million. Click.
  6. Go to the color palette. Choose a color and click.  Go to the tool bar and click on the flood fill tool.  (Looks like a cup with a drop spilling out.)  Click on your image. It will fill with your chosen color.
  7. Go to Layers Palette. (Should be the 4th icon from the right at the top of your screen. It looks like overlapping sheets of paper.) Click on it. Move the tab back and forth as you watch your image. The opacity will change.  Stop when you have the image as desired.
  8. Go to Layers and click.  Click on Merge. Click on Merge All (flatten).
  9. Go to Effects and click. Choose one of the effects (Artistic Effects, Geometric Effects, Reflection, or Texture). Play with it until you get the desired effect and click OK.
  10. Go to FILE. Scroll down to Export. Click on JPEG Optimizer. Set the compression for 40. Click OK.
  11. Save to File box will appear. Name your background. Remember where the image is saved. Click Save.

To use this background on a Delphi message

Download your new background image to a remote linking site.

Retrieve the image ID (url) by right clicking on the image and clicking on Properties.  Cut and paste the url into the background code.
