How to make your text different colours using Vectors

Don't worry its easy:-)
First open an image..say 500 x 100, i used transparent background but you use what ever you like
click the text button to add text and chose your font, size etc
Make sure Vector is selected and Antialias
Type your text as normal and put on your canvas
You will see it don't look quite the same as usual thats OK
Now open your layer palette, you will see your text on layer 2
and on the left of it there will be a plus sign
Click the plus sign and it will show your text on a sub layer
with a letter A on the left of it
Right click on this layer and you will see a menu appear
Select 'Convert Text to Curves' then
'As character shapes'
There you have each letter of your word on a separate layer!!!!!!
Just select which ever one you want by double clicking on the letter
A window opens 'Vector Properties' and you can change
and change the colours etc....
Thats it...with a lot more playing around you can create many effects...
To add effects etc click on Layer 2 (the whole word)
and go to objects and select 'Group'
You should then see the usual marching ants...but you will notice you still can't use your effects
so go to layer 1 and right click and chose 'Merge Visible' you can then add effects ...i added 'Inner bevel'
Like all these lessons we need to know that they work so please let us know and give us a shout if you get stuck and we will try to make the lesson easier to understand
Good Luck!!
I played around and made this one too....did take a long time but i like it
