"Set in the year 2019, this story centers on an astronaut who boards a pod cruiser for a routine space station mission and lands on a planet where talking apes dominate." United Artist Review
Directed by Tim Burton, this movie "remake" is the best movie I have seen this summer. Unlike most sequels, Planet of the Apes could stand alone without support from the original. This is a Sci-fi, horror and action film. Of course, costume and makeup techniques have made incredible advances. I enjoyed the original version (1968), but as it should be, the story and enjoyability have been improved upon dramatically! I recommend this movie to anyone. Please don't feel that you need to reaquaint yourself with the original. Go, watch and enjoy. **** four stars
