Checking for a Warped Case


This photo was taken through the flywheel end of the case and the arrows are on the second web, with the 6 main nuts tightened. Note that you cannot see a "gap" between the case where the two halves meet. If you do, then you should NEVER use the case.




X marks the spot. This shows the the same spot but from a different veiw. The "X" shows where the case half rubs together...and wears. A straight -edge could be layed across all of the main bearing edges and then a measurement taken, but it is easier just to bolt the case together and look through it as in the top photo.
