Picture 1 shows the 11 tooth spider from the swingaxles
through the early IRS type 1's through 1973.
Picture 2 shows the 10 tooth spider gear from the 1973
and up Type 1 IRS. These are stronger than the 11 tooth ones but CANNOT
be used in the swingaxle differential because of timing and also they will
not mate to the swingaxle side gears. They can, however be used in older
IRS trannys as long as you just use the whole diff and dont try to mix
the gears inside. Just bolt your ring gear onto the 10 tooth spider diff.
Picture 3 shows an 11 tooth spider from a "3-rib" and
also the "5-rib" Type 2 trannys. These are not NEARLY as strong as the
Picture 4 which is out of a "091 or 6-rib" trans. These are 9 teeth. Again
you can put a "3-rib OR 5-rib" ring gear on the later and stronger "6-rib"
diff BUT this time, you must also use the related "6-rib" components
which are: the side thread in bearing races, the plastic lock flanges,
and the cv flanges, and snaprings.
