S: Me & Paul are very excited. We're here at the Regent, in Ipswich with Letitia Dean. I've gotta say... 'ello Princess - he dared me to do it! Does everyone say that?
L: Quite a lot, yeah.
S: Must get boring. So you're gonna be in Cinderella-
L: Yep
S: Who are you playing?
L: I am playing... this year... the Fairy Godmother, the first time for me - I've never played the fairy before.
S: We've seen the outit and it's absolutely stunning - is it fun getting dressed up in all that glitz and glamour?
L: Well, I think it's sort of, every little girl's dream isn't it really, having all the sparkle and stuff, yeah!
S: It's not the first time you've been in Cinderella is it?
L: No. My first ever panto when I was about 17 or 18 I actually played Cinderella - but (laughs) the years are passing me by now cos now I'm playing the fairy! But yeah, I've only done Cinderella once before, and that was, like I say, when I was 17 or 18.
S: Any singing in the panto?
L: I think so, you poor audience members!
S: Cos you had a single out didn't you?
L: Many moons ago! Was that in the Eighties? I think it was late Eighties, early Nineties?
S: Paul, you're the music guy!
P: Yep.
L: What was it called, Paul? And did you buy it? (laughs)
P: No, no, no! But I've got a surprise for you in a little while-
L: Oh no-
P: And I'm not gonna tell you what it is!
L: Oh please don't play it to your listeners!
P: No I won't. (Sarah & Letitia laugh) That's an idea!
S: When do you start rehearsing?
L: We start rehearsals on December 2nd and I think we open around the 14th December and we're there til the 6th of Jan.
S: It's gonna be a very busy time, cos you've also got... on the telly-
L: (chuckles) I know!
S: -a little bit of dancing?
L: A bit of Strictly Come Dancing yeah! I'm in rehearsals at the moment, so y'know, loads of sparkles again, lots of- it's quite difficult at the moment actually, we've only done 4 or 5 training sessions so far.
P: How much work does that involve? How much training do you actually have to do before you're actually on the telly on a Saturday?
L: We probably get about... three and a half... four weeks, which is not a long time really.
S: Have you done much dancing before?
L: When I was very young, I went to a stage school called Sylvia Young so that was many moons agon. All these reports saying I'm a trained dancer, I'm certainly not!
(Sarah giggles)
P: Is this the first time you've ever performed in Ipswich?
L: Yeah, it's the first time I've ever been to Ipswich!
P: And what do you think of our new look Regent Theatre, does it look brill?
L: Honestly, I think it's really lovely. And what's great as well is that every single seat has got a really good view which does often happen in theatre so-
S: Mmmm.
L: And the dressing rooms are fantastic! Honestly, they're like Buckingham Palace to me, those dressing rooms. We've had a few breezeblocks over the years...
P: Before we finish here this morning, Sarah here is an acknowledged Eastenders expert-
L: Are you really?
S: Well...
L: You'll be better than me cos my brain cells are dead!
(Sarah laughs)
P: So before we go, I just want to test you and Sarah, just to see... just to see who is the better at the Eastenders knowledge, but I'm expecting you to know some of these...
L: It's been a while!
P: ...bearing in mind you were in it!
L: Yeah! (Giggles)
P: Just shout your name as soon as you know the answer. Er... what was the name of the band that you were in?
L: Dog Track! And it was an unfortunate name!
S: I thought it was called The Banned?
L: Ah, you might be right... one came first!
P: You can't even remember your own band?!
L: Can we have a point each?
S: Yeah!
L: Cos it was both at some point, but I'm not sure which one ended up being it!
S: Yeah.
P: OK, OK, one all. Second question, when did Sharon and Grant get married?
L: Ugh.
P: We found out your wedding anniversary, can you remember what it was?
L: No!
S: Boxing Day.
P: What year?
L: Ah, yes, it was Boxing Day. Was it.. 199... 6? No?
P: It was '91!
(Letitia & Sarah tut and sigh)
P: So you both got that wrong. This is the last question, this can be the decider. What was used to kill Den Watts?
S: I know!
L: I know that as well! Do you want to take that one?
S: It was Pauline's doggy doorstop wasn't it?
L: Yay!
P: It was! You're the winner!
S: Fantastic! Oh, I'm sorry about that!
P: Uh, Letitia, good luck with all-
L: Was there a prize involved?
(Sarah laughs)
P: Er, yes... um... what would you like?
L: You get a ticket to panto!
P: Yay! (To Sarah) You won a Kit Kat off me last week, do you want another one?
S: Yeah, I'll have the Kit Kat thanks
P: Addicted to chocolate this one!
L: A Kit-Kat? Cheapskate!
(Sarah laughs again)
P: Congratulations on being in this brilliant performance, cos it looks absolutely superb and good look with it!
L: Thank you! We'll need it.
S: And good luck for you in Strictly and theatre, all in your glitz and glamour.
P: Lovely!
L: Press those buttons and vote, that's all I'm saying.
P: Yeah, we're gonna spend a fortune ringing every week now aren't we?
L: Yay!
P: Thank you for being on the show, thank you!
L: Thank you. I'll see you soon! |
