These are some of the projects in which I worked on.
Flow field modeling and simulation in a Gas Turbine Combustor
Abstract:: The design of a gas turbine combustor is a complex process involving numerous experimental tests. Thus in order to reduce the costs and to validate the experimental results, Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations are carried out. In the present I plan to computationally simulate the complex 3-D flow in a gas turbine combustor. For the present study the experimental work done by Mc Guirk and Palma who carried out a cold flow analysis through the combustor. I plan to simulate the effects of varying primary hole geometry and location on the central axis on the flow through the combustor. A finite volume unstructured tetrahedral grid approach has been used for the analysis. Also the discharge coeffecients for the various hole configurations will be evaluated and compared with the experimental results and predictions using the k-e and SST turbulence model.

Scramjet combustion chamber performance:
worked with Dr.B.T.N.Sridhar during summer on the subsonic scramjet combustion chamber facility at Madras Institute of Technology. Carried out performance anallysis with different combustion chamber configurations and fuels and observed flame characteristics
Conceptual Design of a 220 seater jetliner [ christened it: STRATOCRUISER ]
I worked in a group of five for a design objective of a 220 seater twin engine jetliner having a 7000 km range. The sixth semester was spent in preliminary aerodynamic desing and sizing and the in the semester carried out a very very detailed structural analysis. will add a few pics later.
Performance of HTPB propellant grain Hybrid Rockets
Worked with HTPB [Hydroxyl Terminated Poly Butadiene] propellant grains for nozzle and nozzle-less rockets and determined the burning rates for various operation conditions.
Well Productivity
Working on a project to analyze factors which cause a decrease in the productivity of oil wells and the measured needed to prevent their occurence
Kriging
Working to setup a computer program for kriging with in the GSLib suite and also documenting the computational work flow and the inherent assumptions in the code.
