| The island of Lesvos | ||||||||||||
| Lesvos lies in the Aegean sea only 10 kilometers from the coast of Asia Minor. It is Greece's third largest island with a population of 90,000. The main town is Mytilene. It is a rather green island with pine forests and olive groves. The west part is volcanic and rather bare. The flora and fauna are rich, especially as many different ecosystems are found (wetlands, mountains, frygana, seashore, lagoons...). |
