| Part 1 by Blacksableknight "There's a moon over Bourbon St. tonight. I see faces as they pass beneith the pale lamp light..." Beidan sang softly as she waited. The moonlight glistened off her obsidian hair and deathly pale skin. She smiled to herself and her fangs glistened in the moonlight. She looked around the deserted shopping center where she stood, waiting for some sign of the other vampire who was to meet her there. To mortal eyes, the moonlight would reveal nothing, but Beidan saw the movement in the shadows behind her. She turned to face her auburn haired visitor. Part 2 by Eureus "I've no choice but to follow that call" - said the tall male who was approaching. Beidan quickly gave him a strong but still soft kiss. He smiled with his shiny green eyes sparkling, or at least that was the color they showed at the momment. "I was getting impatient. You know I get hungry at these hours. I thought you forgot about our picnic." said Beidan. "Love...I'm starving...and your face is always so beautiful under the moonlight...how could I miss that?" he said with a romantic french tone. Suddenly, they heard a noise in an alley nerby. They went to find out what it was. Some teenagers were talking about a crime they made and had a bag full of money. Apparently they killed a guard on their way out. The couple of vampires just smiled at each other evily. They were up to something. Part 3 by Lestatrice "Killed a guard? Really...that's not something one should be bragging about at this time of night." "Yes, you never know who could be listening." The two silent figures virtually floated over to where the group of teenagers were. They didn't even look up when the shadows closed in on their tender necks. "Good meal," said Beidan, "how did you take it Armand?" "Divine. Just as I like them, young and evil." "Shall we take a walk to see our favorite friend?" "Yes, wonderful idea...let's just hope he is still moping about." Part 4 by Nehryk Across town, a dark figure moved swiftly down a foggy, darkened street. He knew he was being followed, it was a game he has played out many times before. There was no shortage of fools thinking he was an easy target. he walked on, slowing his pace as to let the would be thief close the distance. He knew his part perfectly. He could hear the thiefs quickening breath as he got closerand closer. "Hey," the thief said softly, "give me everything youve got!" Lestat slowly turn around to face the thief, a young man looking to be barely into his twenties hold a knife. "oh, youll have to do much better than that" pointing at the knife. Lestat smiled at the thief reveling what he truly was. "you really should pick your marks more carefully. Unfortunately for you, youll never have a second chance." "W-what t-the f-fu.." the thief stammered, dropping the knife. But before he could even finish the sentence, Lestat, moving faster than any human could imagine, grabbed the thief by the throat with one hand and lifted him off the ground. Oh how he loved this part! "P-p-please dont kill me!" the petrified thief pleaded. "Oh, I do so love the smell of fear at dinner time!" exclaimed Lestat. "and dont be so negative! Dont think about it as dying, think about it as being liberated from life! The thief couldnt even scream as his liberator of life closed in on his neck. Game over. "Didnt anyone ever teach you not to play with your food?" Armand ask mischievously. Lastat turn to the familiar voice, dropping the now drained thief to the ground. "Youre one to talk.." he replied, wiping a drop of blood from his chin. "We thought we might still find you in this part of town" Beidan grinned. "Dont you get tired of play the same game?" Lestat grinned wickedly, "as a matter of fact...no...not yet." Part 5 by Tryrdon They were startled to hear clapping from the alley way behind them. Then came the voice, "prevoschodniy, artisticheskiy, tovarisch!" As they looked in the direction of the voice, they saw him. He was tall, and strongly built. His Black Hair and blue eyes pierced their very core. Lestat started at the site of him, and Armand and Beidan regarded him curiously. "You should, I think, be more cautious Tovarisch Lestat. You are now in my territory!" "And who, might I ask, are you," inquired Armand. "I am the darkness the poor denizens of this area dread!" "Cute," Beidan rolled her eyes, "A little over the top?" "Not at all," was Lestat's subdued reply. "Spazibo, tovarisch," He grinned showing his fangs, "Allow me to introduce myself, I am Alexei Kyleovich Lbedev. Former grand admiral for the Czar's Navy!" "Which Czar," was Armand's Terse Reply. "My apologies, that would be the Czar you would recognize as Ivan the Terrible," Alexei smiled. "So," Beidan snapped, "What do you want?" "Let us not be Nekulturny, that is, let us remain civil to each other," he said easily, "I am likewise not given to answering questions that I have already answered!" "So you're here to warn us away," Asked Armand. "More than you know tovarisch Armand." The Russian replied coldly, " This is not a place for you and your friends. There are those prowling this area that would hunt even ourselves!" This brought a shocked reaction from all except Lestat. Lestat knew precisely what the Russian meant. Indeed, he knew Alexei Lbedev. This was not his first encounter. And he knew likewise that Alexei wanted something more than to warn them away. The mere fact he knew Armand was discomforting. It was an indication that he had done some research. "You have tread into my domain now," Alexei started, "Now, as the host, I invite you to my home as guests. The meals shall be exquisite!" The trio looked at each other uneasily. It was Armand that spoke first, "How do you know who I am?" "It is quite simple really," the Russian began, "I have watched you these last weeks, and I have seen your 'theater' and the productions. Too bad someone angered Poor Louis!" Lestat looked at Armand, with more than a little amusement. He knew that this one was as resourceful as he was an enigma. He had seen this one do amazing things. He also knew that he was, as usual, not giving a clue as to his true age. Lestat likewise, although did not know his age, knew that he had been around since the days of the Roman Empire. He regarded Armand and Beidan, would they be his guests, or would they be foolish enough to offend him. The Russian was notoriously foul tempered, and was known to be brutal to the extreme. He was an ancient soul with powers he did not comprehend! Armand broke the silence that followed. "We would prefer to talk this over." "Please, Feel free to," Alexei said cheerfully. But I have invited you, I am the one who has risked myself." Lestat knew this to be a lie. This was no week vampire, as he was beautifully trying to convince his friends! After Alexei walked away a few feet, Armand turned to the others. "What do you think Lestat," He asked. "We are safe enough there, and he was not lying about the dining prospects," Lestat grinned, remembering his last trip to the manor. "We don't know him Lestat," was Beidan's reply. "He would not allow us to come to harm. That would be Nekulturny, uncivilized. He is of Noble bearing. If he wasn't a noble, he thinks of himself as one," Lestat said evenly. "We shall go," was Armand's reply, "I do not believe Lestat would lie to us." When they told Alexei of there agreement, he grinned at them and said, "Prevoschodniy, let us go." hey traveled out of town to the country side to a manor overlooking the sea. He showed them into the parlor where several young people were dancing. He looked at his new "Guests" and said, "Pick one, they will provide a good meal." Armand looked over, "as you know, Lestat just fed, and Beidan and myself fed a while before." "Suit yourself Tovarisch," Alexei smiled. If you would then, follow me. He led them to a room upstairs. It resembled a study of sorts and was full of many ANCIENT volumes and tomes. A small chemistry set stood in the corner and held many bottles of various chemicals and other sorted equipment. Near the door, was a large open space with a round table and several chairs. He walked up and sat in the largest chair. Seated across the table were two people. One, kept his face covered with an Iron mask and the other wore a wool suit of military cut with a wool greatcoat. Alexei motioned to the table, "Please, have a seat!" They all sat down and looked around. "Allow me to introduce my guests, The gentleman in Uniform," Alexei gestured, "Is Admiral Steven Holliday, and the Other gentleman is an old friend of mine, Vladimir Tsepesch." Armand gasped, He was supposed to be a legend. How could this be. Beidan and Lestat looked equally shocked. "The good Admiral, is someone who is NOT one of us," Beidan Snarled, "He is-" "A hunter," Alexei smiled easily, "And do not underestimate him. He is more akin to us than he or us would like to admit!" "He has no place here," was Lestats response. "The reason I asked you here, when explained, will explain his presence," Alexei snarled, "And you will be Kulturny in my house!" Armand began to stand suddenly, when the admiral exploded into action. As Armand started to stand, he leapt from his chair and virtually flew across the table. When he landed, Armand was on the floor with a stake at his heart. Lestat moved to pull the man away but was repelled by an unseen force. "Back off fiend," His heavy accent blurted out, "Or I assure you, I will kill him!" "That is Enough Admiral," Alexei yelled, "He is my guest and Shall NOT BE HARMED!"The officer stood up, and extended his hand to Armand, "My apologies" "Soon, I fear," Armand began, "You and I shall have a disagreement!" "Ah look forward to it Suh!" was the admirals only reply. "Now that we have established," Alexei said, "That both of you have heart, shall we get to business?" When everyone sat down, Alexei began. "Last year, there was a sudden increase in unexplained deaths. Many appear to have been the work of Vampires, however, this is not true. Vampires do not believe in the practice of drawing attention to themselves. This has not kept the old Order of Die Wachtern from rattling our cages. The fact is, some of these dead, are Vampires. It would seem, something is definitely wrong across town. I want you to help determine who it is." Part 6 by blacksableknight Beidan looked wariky from Lestat to Armand. Then, she gave Admiral Holiday a glance. The look in his eyes made her supernatural blood run cold. Then, she turned to thier host. "We will help in any way that we can," she said. Armand was obviously furious, and Lesat looked at her curiously, but she paid them no mind. "Very well," said Alexei. "Now, let me tell you everything I know about the situation." He motioned that they should sit down. Beidan looked at him oddly "It's almost dawn. We should be leaving." "Feel free to sleep here today," Alexei said, "I must be a hospitable host." Beidan threw another look at the admiral. "Sorry, but I refuse to sleep under the same roof with the scum that tried to kill my love five minutes ago. Have a good day's sleep Alexei. We shall see you in the evening." Beidan led Lestat and Armand hurridly out the door. "Now what did you do that for?" Armand demanded "We don't have to help them!" "Look, let's just get some sleep, alright? Let's just say that I may know who our mystery killer is." Beidan said. "I'll meet you both at the corner of Rue Laffayette tomorrow night. Bring any friends you can, Louis, David, anyone. If I'm right, this may mean trouble for all of us. But whatever you do, do NOT tell Alexei that I may know." She dissapeared into the sky, on her way to the abandoned library where she slept during the day. Tomorrow, I think I'll bring NightWalker as a little suprise, she thought. Beidan was at Rue Laffayette early. A giant red wolf with glowing eyes was at her side. She had given NightWalker the blood long ago when he had saved her from slayers in a forest at the cost of his mortal existance. Funny, she thought, my only fledgeling has four legs. In a few minutes, Armand arrived, alone. "Bringing in the heavy artillery, huh?" he asked, noting the presence of NightWalker, who ran towards him and began licking his face. Beidan remained stony silent. She was watching the opposite street corner where Lestat appeared in the company of a handsome young man with startling green eyes and hair like the night. "Merrick and David were sort of busy, we decided not to bug them," Louis told Beidan. She quickly embraced her friend. "Beidan, what is going on? What do you know?" Lestat demanded, getting down to business. Beidan sighed. "I've never told you anything about me except that I was given the Dark Gift during the years the Bubonic Plague struck England. Well, I had a twin brother named Amadrei who was studying to be a priest. He discovered my 'damnation' because he was the priest assigned to bury me after I died. He wanted one last look, but noticed I was gone. So Amadrei became a slayer to avenge his twin's doom. One night a century ago, however, He attempted to slay ME. That's the night I met NightWalker." NightWalker barked happily at her side. "I told Amadrei that night that he would love the life of a vampire. He told me that I should die and bring my soul to rest. We fought, but I could not bear to kill him, so I made him one of us." Armand shudered. "Great bedtime story, Beidan, but what does that have to do with the killings?" "Let me finish! Anyway, Amadrei was simply MORE furious. He hunted to live, but he hunted his fellow vampire. He has never made a fledgeling for a hundred years, but every night he destroys one of us. A few years ago, when Lestat woke up Those Who Must Be Kept, Andrei learned about the sacred core of the vampires that Akasha carried and Maharet and Mekare carry now. While you two were busy getting angry at our friend the admiral, I was scanning Alexei's mind. There were a lot of killings, but half of those killed were vampires living as mortals, and the rest were thier mortal aquaintances. I only know of one being that would kill other vampires and then make the kills disguised. Amadrei. He is getting stronger. And I volunteered to help Alexei because I started this mess, so now I have to stop it. You can help if you want, but this is my affair. We confer with Alexei again tonight, then we find Andrei and kill him once and for all, finishing what I started. Are you in or not?" PART 7 by Lestatrice Under the light of the moon, Beidan, Lestat, Armand, Louis, and Nightwalker all started to walk to Alexi's mansion for the second time that night. Cloaking their minds as well as their purpose, the five powerful vampires made quite a team. However, Lestat didn't know if that would be enough. Lestat met Alexi back when Akasha reigned. Lestat being brash and feeling ultimately powerful ran into Alexi after the concert. Lestat knew that he had no chance against Alexi, he could tell that Alexi was far older than anyone he knew, including Marius. The power was emanating off of the older vampire, and Lestat did not want to get involved with ticking off this one. When Lestat ran into Alexi, he caught a fleeting thought from the mind of Alexi. He saw killings in the snow in fleeting images that went as quick as they came. Not knowing of the importance of these killings until now, Lestat knew what he saw to be true. Back in the present time frame, Nightwalker awakened Lestat from his reverie by plunging ahead of the group, scratching at the door, which he tore to shreds in the process. "I'm sorry, I will cover the bill for that." Beidan spoke up. Alexi was in the front hallway staring at them. "Are we ready?" TBC... Fan Fiction Home |
