| When Your Mind Breaks The Flickering Interlude |

The smell of blood filled his nose. It was everywhere, in thin lines over his chest and arms, delicate cuts that had an almost decorative cant to them. The beginnings of an arm-band had been lovingly carved into his skin. It didn't hurt at all. He knew it should have. He knew that every little kidd that the blade in Dwyn's hand bestowed upon his skin should have been pulsing with pain. Instead, all those little cuts were alive. Each one sent jagged slivers of ice into his heart and unleashed a fire in his blood. It felt so good, so pure. It should have been profane. Instead, it was sacred. It should have been wrong. Instead, it was perfectly right. He felt like his world was coming down around him, and that was when he realized that that wasn't necessarily such a bad thing. If maybe, once reality was done shattering, he and Dwyn could stay here in this frozen, burning world where nothing mattered but blood and each other. There was a kind of power in giving himself up to Dwyn entirely. He had complete trust, perfect faith in the other boy. He would have let no one else preside overhim with a knife, nor touch his ears. Dwyn was special, his chosen one. He knew he felt deeply for the crazy, golden eyed youth, and he knew that anyone he could trust so easily was worth loving. He knew he did. Whether it would remain alive, grow, or perhaps become something more than freindship remained to be seen. Actually, it had already progressed beyond friendship as most knew it. Most friends didn't snuggle as often as possible. Most friends... well, their relationship had taken a decidedly interesting turn in the last day, deviating from the known path with no thought as to what it could do to the already-fragile minds of the two boys. Most friends didn't cut each other, living for the pain and shivering in anticipation of the blade's kiss. Most friends didn't lick the blood from the wounds they inflicted on each other, purring and drinking of the life that they held within. Most friends didn't kiss like this, lips and teeth meeting in a way that was by no means gentle. Most friends did not drown in the sweet taste of each other's blood, and most friends didn't enjoy being a carving-canvas or snack for each other. A lullaby shivered into Kieran's mind as he thought about it all. He knew he was cracking. He could feel it shattering, saw reality irrevocably fracture itself. Rock a bye baby... It gave itself new words, different from those that 'tousan had sung to him. Darker ones. Embrace the blade Give up your soul Let innocence fade It was a child's clarion tone singing those words into his mind. He didn't know where they were coming from. It didn't matter. When your mind breaks Darkness shall fall And down will come baby Blood, screams, and all. The knife cut into him again and then Dwyn's lips were on his own. A rippling crack shivered down his mind, cracking reality and crystallizing it all at once. He returned the kiss with a little gasp, endless black eyes wide. The smell of blood in the air was choking him ever so sweetly. He found himself sinking into madness... and dove. le fin "Rock a bye baby Embrace the blade Give up your soul Let innocence fade When your mind breaks Darkness shall fall And down will come baby Blood, screams, and all..." |
