OBJECTIVES:

1st.Introduce transitive and intransitive verbs.

2nd.Introduce defining and non-defining relative clauses.

·       Write on the board:

He     raise    his hand.              The sun    rises.

·       ðIntroduce the word: raise: What do you do if you want to speak in class? You raise your hand.

·       Look at the 1st ex. ask where the (subject, verb, obj) is. Say: A verb that followed by an object  is called transitive verb. S say some other transitive verb: open, write, break, eat.....etc.

·       ðPoint to the 2nd sentence and ask: Is there an obj? No What does the sun rise? nothing. Say  Verbs which cannot followed by an obj. are called intransitive verbs.

·       Open PB/10, S read aloud the title and the contents of the box about transitive and intransitive verbs. S look at P/14/ PB and look at the (vt) and (vi).

·       Open WB/6, ex. A, read aloud the ins. and the ex.. Introduce:Ø pause: short stop or wait. Øhorizon: line where the earth or sea seems to meet the sky. S complete A at home.

 

 

·       Write on the board and say the teacher said this to his pupil:

 

I'll tell you about the universities which you can go to.

 

·       Say: the teacher says the clause which......to complete the meaning and not all the universities in the world.

 

·       Write on the board:

 

A pupil, who is in his last year at school, is discussing his career with his English teacher.

 

·       The underlined clause gives more inf. about the pupil. We can take out the clause and every on can understand the sentence because it has a complete meaning.

·       S look at the board and I'll read the 1st sentence without pausing universities and which but in the 2nd ex. I'll pause after pupil. Say in the 2nd ex. there are commas but the 1st one has not.

·       Open PB/11, S read aloud the explanations and ex.

·       Open WB/7/ ex.B, read aloud the ins. Complete it at home.
