   ·   Hang the poster, do you know these men? They are William Shakespeare and Charles Dickens.

   ·   What did they do? They wrote stories in English.

   ·   Point to the books and say: They are books written by Charles Dickens and the title of the book is Great expectations which is a long story that people read and long stories like these are called novels. Show S a copy of a novel.

   ·   Point to the 2nd book and say: this book is as the same as the previous one but it includes the important parts of the story and the English is easier to read.

   ·   Point to the 3rd pic and ask: Do you know what William Shakespeare wrote? Plays: Stories (in some places or in TV) to watch and listen to. Show S a copy of a play.

 

 

 

   ·   Write these two Q's on the board:

When did Shakespeare live? about 400 years ago. ( in the 16th century )

When did Charles Dickens live? ( in the 19th century )

What is the deference between a novel and a play? A novel is a story that people read but a play is a story that people listen to.

What is a biography? a true story about the life of a real person.

What is the difference between a biography and autobiography?  A biography is written about another person but an autobiography is written about the author himself.

   ·   S listen to the con. to answer the Q's on the board.

   ·   Open PB/1/look at # 1. read aloud the ins. S read the Q's  a. to f. Play the cassette

   ·   IntroduceØ author: a person who writes books.Ø poem: translate it: piece of writing in verse.

   ·   Say Shakespeare and Dickens are both famous in English literature. Ask What does literature mean? Writing books, novels, plays, poems, biographies, autobiographies.......etc.

   ·   Read Q g and say: fiction is something imagined not true.

   ·   Read Q h introduce: Ømake up: imagined not true. Ask: Which is made up , fiction or biography? fiction. Introduce: characters: the people in a novel or a play.

   ·   Introduce stage: place where characters stand and moves in a play.

   ·   Look at PB/1, #2. read aloud the ins. and the Q's. Some other S answer the Q's.

 

 

 

 

 

 

WRITTEN WORK:

S read the Arabic introduction in their PB.
