In the winter of 2000 Eric Oligney, Will Lawrence,
and Dan Shores started jamming in a band that none of them really
cared for but found that they all dug playing with each other.
We made the decision to split from the group to try something
different. The goal was to take all of our different interests
musically and blend them together making it something heavy, melodic,
and with a groove.
We started jamming a couple of nights a week in
Eric's bedroom, writing songs and re-writing them until they sounded
like something. Around that time we decided we needed a singer
since none of us were going to do it. We asked one of Dan's long
time friends Matt Spicer to come over and check it out to see
if he might be interested in filling the spot. There was an instant
connection and we were off. We continued the writing process,
now with a new set of influences from Matt. We soon moved out
of Eric's room and into our current practice space.
We then took on the daunting task of finding a
second guitarist to fill out the sound. We had a lot of guys come
out and jam, and all of them were excellent guitarists, but a
variety of other things such as scheduling conflicts kept it from
working out so we kept looking. About the time we had given up
we had a group of people over to practice to hang out and listen.
At the end of the evening one of the people that came over that
night, Jason Blair, came up and said that he would be interested
in jamming some time. Shortly after that Jason joined the group.
In December of 2001 we started playing shows.
Hope that brings you up to date!
