Arada Diane Barclay

A very unique person unto herself.

Arada celebrated her first birthday this January and she is now quickly nearly the year-and-a-half mark.    She took her first independent steps a week after she turned one -- practicing one night while I was at the restaurant.  When I got home after nine, she was so proud and had to show me her great achievement.     A few weeks ago while she and I were eating dinner, she stuck her fork into a piece of meat and proudly exclaimed to the world "Arada Keng", which in Thai translates as "Arada is skillful".

The New Baby

On Tuesday,  January 14th at 7:39 P.M.  in Nanaimo Regional General Hospital,  this sweet little
girl was born unto the world.   Arada Diane Barclay weighed a slight 6 lbs 14 oz  and measured
49 cm from head to toe.    She is healthy,  happy, intelligent and beautiful.  (As most parents

are apt to claim for their children at first.)

Arada and her mother spent two nights in hospital  and then came home (the same home it so happens that
her father returned to after his birth 37 years before).    In the days since she has shown incredible talent
and is proving to be a very amiable and well behaved newborn.

March 2003

Arada is seven weeks old now.  She  can smile and laugh and lift her head.   She has gained three-and-a-half pounds since she was born (a 50% increase in weight).   These seven weeks have passed with astonishing speed.  We are more comfortable with her as she is with her surroundings.   She loves baths and car rides, although her response to the former is smiles and to the latter is sleep.

Ten days ago we purchased a digital video camera and so can now record her more active life.  Look forward to seeing
some of her video clips on this page in the near future.

                                                    September - October 2003

Joyful busyness with baby over the past months have meant little time for sitting down at the computer to
add to her webpage.    Now that she can better amuse herself,   I will catch up on missing information and
graphics.    Here are a few to begin with.
