Chapter 105: Jo III—The Bathroom

Chapter 105: Jo III—The Restroom

They had arrived thirty minutes late to the restaurant, the usual reason of course. Peter had opened the car door for her and as his hand gripped hers to help her out she had felt that electricity within her all over again. The warmth of his hand, the squeeze of it on her palm, when only a short while ago it had been gripping her thigh, trembling in ecstasy. The afterglow of sex was just bleeding from her she knew it. And she could see it in Peter too, and she felt completely omnipotent and desirable, making eyes at the valet before they entered the restaurant.

Everyone stared at them, she felt their gaze and it was impossible not to feel some sort of satisfaction in it. All these woman didn’t have what she did, a man who wouldn’t let go of her hand. Were the men thinking the same thing? Did they desire her just as much as she wanted them to?

Josefina had never been one who chased after rich men, or powerful men or anyone for purely showman’s sake; in fact she had often pitied and looked down upon women who did. This time, though, when she had first noticed that hush in the restaurant, she realized that a byproduct of her relationship with him, was suddenly an odd sort of status. And what woman doesn’t like to be envied and spoiled, at least once in her life?

It was a little bit of a surprise to see the party that had gathered at the table with the Sakics. Peter had told her that it would be just a dinner between two couples. Not that she minded a larger group she supposed. These hockey people were quite interesting, well at least Peter’s teammates were from the stories he told of them. The wives were quite a pill to be around. They constantly reminded her of why she had never been a social butterfly amongst women. She took a quick account of the females present, Debbie and Jacquelyn, Jocelyn? What was that woman’s name, the French one. She liked those two. And then when she saw that handsome young boy her heart had fluttered a bit, that would mean his mother would be around.

Jo sniffed and looked quickly at Peter, and squeezed his hand just to remind herself of the prize she didn’t want to throw away. She didn’t want anymore than that, why would she? But she couldn’t help asking the boy as they sat down if his parents were here. It was a stupid question of course they would be, but it turned out they weren’t. Jo decided that she wasn’t disappointed. In fact she was relieved.

It was after they’d placed drink and appetizer orders that Jo began to relax some, not sitting next to Peter. And then Debbie had screamed, "Jesus Christ!"

Even Jo had blushed in embarrassment for her. Poor woman, what was wrong? Women can always sense pivotal moments or moments of crisis in each other. It was a valuable tool that women had at their disposal for the good or bad of their sex. Jo immediately sensed something important was happening as Debbie grabbed Mrs. Trepanier, heading for the bathroom and she wanted to be a part of it. Women, like it or not, were also pack creatures, and these hockey better halves were a tight group to break into as it was.

Excited adrenaline began to course through her as they walked swiftly to the bathroom. The air of emergency was surrounding them and she was eager to see the conclusion of this.

Debbie still had her hand wrapping around Mrs. Trepanier’s arm as she shoved open the bathroom door and almost swung her into the room. Mrs. Trepanier was grinning like a cat as Debbie walked up the marble floors of the bathroom and routinely peeked under the door of each stall. When she turned around her face was pale and her eyes seemed to be shining with some unnamable animation. "What?" she exclaimed. "What did you say?"

Mrs. Trepanier yawned and glanced at Josefina, her eyes almost flirtatious and Jo raised her eyebrows. "Well, I said that Pascal and I shared a delicious evening with Patrick and Mimi."

A dart of excitement stung inside Jo. Did she hear that correctly... Mimi?

"That’s what I thought you said!" Debbie gasped. "Mimi never told me that!"

"Well I don’t think she would," Mrs. Trepanier purred, looking back at Debbie. "You see Mimi wasn’t entirely agreeable to the deal and I don’t think she likes my husband very much... oooh but I like hers! Patrick may be a donkey’s hind end but he’s also hung like one."

"My God!" Debbie yelled. "Jacquelyn!"

Ah that was her name, Jo thought to herself at the same time still trying to process this information.

"But Mimi didn’t want to?" Jo asked suddenly smelling a slightly illegal activity and feeling defensive for the slight slip of a woman.

"Well no," Mrs, Trepanier said. "But it didn’t matter really. They lost a game with us and that was the term and the conditions. You see I do not think Mimi really believed that she could lose... but she did. And I am so glad they did... and what a treat she is too, she knows how to touch a woman, not even most men know how to do that correctly."

Jo closed her eyes and put her hand to her forehead, breathing suddenly stopping within her breast.

"You mean you and Mimi..." Debbie began.

"Well no, not completely," Mrs. Trepanier said. "It was a new experience for me and we only had a small taste of each other early in the evening. After wearing our husbands out why should not we have some fun? We only got to.. how you put it... third base? And then I think our spouses became jealous and duly separated us. Ah what a shame I know we could have continued through the night!"

With that Mrs. Trepanier turned back to the mirror and began to reapply some cherry red lipstick.

"And you’re telling all of this to us because...?" Jo said, suddenly feeling disbelief.

"Well.. How could I not tell everything to Debbie," Mrs. Trepanier said, dropping the lipstick into her purse and blinking at Jo as if she were being the silly one. "I know Debbie is discreet and you... well I think we’re you’re first friends within this group so I know you’ll be loyal to us nes pas? And if not... well we’ll see how long you’re with us."

"Jacquelyn!" Debbie snapped. "Be nice."

Jo’s mouth opened and she closed it not saying anything. At first she had been angry with her but then she had remembered that Candy woman. What reason had Peter ever given these women to believe that his latest paramour was permanent? Well, she would have to prove them wrong she supposed.

"I only speak the truth," Mrs. Trepanier said with a shrug. "I am sure you understand sweet one?"

"Sure," Jo said in a quiet voice. "I understand."

"Bon," She said. "Is good."

Debbie shook her head, some color returned to her cheeks. "I am going to have a nice talk with Mimi I’m sure. If she’s in a bad mood about this what a shame if she’s transferring it onto Jonathan somehow."

"Oh he is a resilient boy, yes?" Mrs. Trepanier said. "I’m sure she isn’t harming him too much. She loves those children. Don’t be worried about them."

Jo sighed and they were silent for a moment. What the hell was she going to do with this knowledge? It was already burning her inside, just imagining it. Did Peter know what these people were up to? If he did why didn’t he tell her?

She looked at Debbie who looked back and they both looked at Mrs. Trepanier. And finally they all shook their heads, laughing and smiling. "This is insane!" Jo said. "You people are sick you know that?"

"Hey I didn’t do anything!" Debbie said.

"Oooh don’t judge us," Mrs. Trepanier said. "You do not know your own capabilities in these matters eh?"

"Whatever," Jo said. "I take it back."

"Great," Debbie said. "Now that I’ve had the heart attack of the century let’s go eat."

The women were quiet as they left the bathroom and Jo couldn’t help continuing to look at Mrs. Trepanier. All of a sudden, the possibilities seemed endless... maybe the better halves flock wasn’t such a boring group to know after all.
