Chapter 247: Baptized
Transcript
of Interview with Patrick Edward Mallory,
Mallory: I am accusing no one; I am merely stating a fact.
Mallory: Everything!
Mallory: May I have some water?
Brief pause as the subject receives and drinks a glass of water.
Mallory: Thank you very much I was getting parched. I’ve forgotten how dry the air is in this part of the country, very dry. And the altitude, my goodness it makes me dizzy, I haven’t been back here in eight or nine years. I tell you, if it were not for the natural climate of this country, then I would not have been weakened enough to be caught.
Mallory: She was never Sister Lafet.
Mallory: A girl. A girl with a soft mouth and green eyes that could unsettle a man with a mere glance. A girl who possessed such a natural beauty as to weaken, but to Patrick…
Mallory: Of course.
Mallory: To Patrick, she was a vessel, a toy for him to use to his appetites, he had no consideration for her value as a human, for her character as a young woman, that is until it was too late, of course. In fact, his realization and his conscience regarding this realization is where the ball was set in motion.
Mallory: Perhaps it wasn’t rape, but it was strong enough finish the job.
Mallory: The baptism.
Mallory: You repeat everything I say with a different inflection on the words; it’s becoming tiresome Ms. Lancaster.
Mallory: Then listen! If you become confused, listen more. Understand?
Brief silence.
Mallory: Good. Baptized. Yes, she
was baptized before Mr. Roy ever touched her. She was drowned, immersed,
overwhelmed until her senses, the powers, the evil manipulative forces within
her body were awakened and forced to protect her. Once they were released it
began the first steps into transfiguring her into the abomination I was forced
to terminate.
Mallory: No but I can only hope you will.
Mallory: You must understand Lafet had to be destroyed. What you call her “great deeds” and kindnesses and accomplishments were only her attempts at bettering what God has planned, she was trying to uproot God and place herself in His stead. She was not spreading God’s Word she was contaminating it and I had to stop her. No human being should be allowed such powers!
Mallory: No human being.
Mallory: I cannot be proud of beginning a job I cannot finish.
Mallory: Sister Lafet is only one woman and there are many more like her, there have been since the beginning of time. There is only a matter of time before another is baptized and brought over. They too must be stopped.
Mallory: I am not the only man who can find these women, there will be others. There is always others, there always has been.
Mallory: Sometimes one has to burn their bed to catch the flea.
