576. Capt. William Harris
Accordind to Wood's History of Albemarle County, Virginia (page 219) William Harris wasone of the leading citizens of Albemarle. His first patient was located on Beaver Dam og Hardware in 1739. He also had entries on Totier and Green Creeks. He had more than 2000 acresin the next 40 years. He was a man of fine judgement and great energy. He establishedon Green Creek one of the first mills ever ericted in that part of the county and it has ever sence been an important center of business of the surrounding country. In 1746, the year after the county was organized, he was appointed one of its magistrates.
