My name is Mr. Leskowsky and I currently teach Physical Education at the Lehman-Jackson Elementary School. This year will be my thirteenth year as a teacher with the Lake-Lehman School District.. The first seven years of my teaching career, I taught physical education at the Lake-Lehman High School and was an assistant coach for the varsity football team. The following two years I taught physical education at the Lake-Lehman Middle School, and coached girls basketball at the elementary and junior high levels.
For the past three years I taught PE at the Lehman-Jackson Elementary school.
Several of my personal hobbies include: mountain biking, hiking, camping, swimming, church activities, coaching, playing the guitar, yard work and home improvement projects.
My philosophy as a physical education teacher is to teach children correct body movement and expose students to a wide variety of skills and activities. I also believe that if a child is not enjoying what they are doing, they will not benefit from the activity that is being offered. That is why I try to offer a wide variety of activites throughout the school year. Additionally, I believe that the elementary curriculum must comply with the Pennsylvania State Standards, and should include a balance of both team and lifetime sports.
Team sports are activities that students participate in together as a group such as: soccer, flag football, volleyball and ultimate frisbee.
Lifetime sports are activities that students can pursue individually for the rest of their life, regardless of age, such as : golf, tennis, fishing or weightlifting.
Several of the team sports that the students at Lehman-Jackson will play this year are: soccer, flag football, ultimate frisbee, speedball, volleyball, basketball, baseball, floor hockey, badminton, kickball, tag games and lacrosse.
Lifetime sports that I intend to offer this year will include: weightlifting, tennis, golf, fitness, , horseshoes, badminton, croquet, boccie ball, dance and bowling.
In conclusion, I plan to offer a balanced curriculum that includes both lifetime and team activities. Also, I plan to offer activities that will allow all students to be successful every time they participate in physical education.
