Who are we? We are an association, registered in France and based in POITOU- CHARENTES. Our main object is the promotion of good gardening. We usually meet at Chives which is in the Charente-Maritime, on the border with the Charente and at Verruyes in the Gatine area of Deux-S�vres. The society was formed in early 2006 by British residents of the Poitou- Charentes region and is supported by the local Communes. We are keen to recruit active members throughout the region, especially from the French community, and to liaise with existing French gardening clubs. Meetings We meet in the afternoons of the 3rd Tuesday of the month in Chives and on the 4th Thursday in Verruyes, to listen to presentations, exchange information and socialise. Contributions are made by Guest Speakers as well as members. We arrange visits to places of interest, exhibitions and shows and are actively interested in everything associated with gardening. News and Information The founder of the group, Mike Curtis, who runs �An English Nursery in France�, uses his knowledge and experience, along with that of his contacts, not only to answer specific questions but to edit a monthly newsletter which is sent to everyone. Members are also encouraged to write their own articles or news and to air their experience, particularly on local matters and growing conditions. Purchase and Swapping Using contacts with existing growers and merchants, the club provides members with the opportunity to source and obtain plants, materials and equipment from French (and where appropriate British) suppliers and in time obtain �special deals� locally. Plant and seed swaps are common events and a gardening library is available to all members. Membership Information The subscription for 2007 is 10.00� per person.
