| In July 2007, twenty-four former pupils, and two teachers, from Acklam Grange School visited Lesiraa School as part of a twenty day Overland Expedition to Kenya and Tanzania, and we were able to see at first hand the building work that has been funded by Acklam Grange School. During our five days in the Meserani region we were involved in the following activities: Organised a Sports Day for the pupils at Lesiraa School - click here for images. Provided the teachers of Lesiraa School with mathematics teaching resources, books, pens, pencils, sports clothing, sports equipment and personal items of clothing for the teachers. Took the Deputy Head Teacher into Arusha to spend $2,000 on resources and equipment for the school. Took part in a soccer match against the Lesiraa School soccer team - click here for images. Visited the homes of some of the Lesiraa pupils, and joined with the local Maasai elders for a traditional meal of roast goat - click here for images. Visited the pupils in their new classrooms - click here for images. Presented every pupil in the school with a commemorative badge of our visit, and placed commemorative plaques in each of the four classrooms that we had funded - click here for images. |

| The staff at Lesiraa School provided us with a written testimonial detailing the benefits of our involvement and funding of the four new classrooms, and this is now on display at Acklam Grange School. Whilst there may be some minor grammatical errors, the exact words of the testimonial are given below: | |||||||||
| THE WORDS OF THANKS TO ACKLAM GRANGE Dated 30th July 2007. Honour our friends. Today it is a very happy day to participate together with you. We are pleased to say welcome again and again we as Lesiraa Primary School we have some few words of thanks. In your first time when you visited our school there were a few classes and among those class some was built with wood, few decks which was insufficient for the all pupils so the other pupils were siting down on the dust, a few of leaning materials that coursed pupils performance not good. But now we see and enjoy in new classes, many desks and other learning materials. That make our school to be the good centre of getting knowledge. The school know attract pupils to attand in school different from before it. Many parent now registered their babies in our school, so this is the prosperity from your contribution your contribution helped us so much and that, last year 97% of Std VII pupils were selected to the Secondary School, things that have never happened before. We are very grateful for all the good thing you have done for us. Keep it on. Your warm welcome again and again. Thank you. |
