Thanks

To Braden,
Hey, I just wanted to say “thanks” to you and Zach. After reflecting back over the years and how the three of us became friends, and I remember the time in 4th grade when you helped me out when I ripped open my leg and put a hole in it. Every time I look at the scar on my leg I will always remember what you did for me that day and the pain that I went through.
I remember that day. I was playing football with everyone and having a great time. I knew that I was going for the touchdown pass. I was looking back at you and the football when all the sudden I felt excruciating pain right under my left knee. As I saw the ground grow near, I could hear everyone circle around me and started to murmur very quietly. That is when I realized that when I went to catch the ball I ran right into one of the edges of one of the tables that was in the grass and the edge went straight into my leg. I think that I passed out for about a minute or so. Before I knew it Braden and Zach were carrying me into the nurse’s office.
I had no clue what had happened to me. I knew that my left leg was hurting really bad. By the time I got into the nurse’s office, I could hear her say that it could be serious. I finally looked to see what had happened to me and it looked disgusting. There was a hole in my left leg that was a decent sized hole. I am pretty sure that you could see the bone. For some reason, it wasn’t bleeding. I thought that I would have to get stitches but the nurse said that I wouldn’t need them.
I will always
remember the day that two of my best friends took me into the nurse’s office
and missed the rest of their recess. I had a class party ten minutes after that
incident. I then asked my mom if what had happened to me was bad and she said
yes. I will always remember the time when I got a physical and emotional scar.
Your friend,
Matt Humphreys
