Dear Matthew,
I am writing this letter hoping that one day you will want to know about your biological heritage and background. In no way do I want to interrupt your life but feel it equally important that if you choose to know about your birth family you should have access to as much information as possible to lead you in the correct path of your search.
To begin with I, Robert Edward Zupancic III, am your birth father. I am a 40 year old Blackfoot Native American with jet black hair, brown eyes and round face. I enjoy living life to its fullest and encourage all to do so. I have a passion for good novels and movies, love to write, gardening, fishing, Sci-Fi, gaming, and making webpages are just a few of my hobbies. I currently reside in Goodlettsville, Tennessee with my new second wife Lesa Ryan-Zupancic, a lifelong resident of Goodlettsville, Tennessee. Your biological mother Linda Diane Rogers lives in Memphis, Tennessee. After our divorce she retained her maiden name. I can get information on your birth mother if you would desire but feel that this is also your choice. Her father (your maternal gran-father) passed away just a few years ago in Las Vegas, NV.
My parents and your gran-parents are both living.
My brother, (your uncle) Paul Daniel Zupancic, currently lives in Herrin, Illinois with his wife of many years Cheryl Lynn.
Crystal, your only biological birth sister, was born on May 9, 1989 and was adopted by my mother your paternal gran-mother. Crystal has beautiful blue eyes, dark brown hair and very light skinned and has been said by many to look alot like your biological mother Linda. I do see Crystal any time I choose and have a very close/open relationship with her. She is aware she has a brother and knows your name that was given to you upon your birth on April 10th, Matthew James Zupancic. Crystal is your only birth sibling but I do have a 22 year old step daughter with Lesa. Her name is Heidi Nichole Combs. Heidi is a graduate of Hunters Lane High School (Class of 2001) of Nashville, Tennessee.
Now down to a few details that I would like to share with you regarding your adoption. Matt, I want you to understand I NEVER signed any adoption papers. It is my understading that you were put up for adoption through St. Peters/Catholic Charities in Memphis, Tennessee. I was in the Army at the time when your birth mother had some health issues and placed you up for adoption without my knowledge. My life was in complete turmoil and you had already been placed with your adoptive family. I did not pursue the issue due to the fact that my life was in turmoil and I did not want to put your adoptive family in turmoil by taking you away from them after they had waited so long to love a child of their own. This does not mean I did not think of you or wonder how you were doing in life. All of the family has thought of you and said prayers for you. For a short while (till you were age 4) we received current up to date pictures of you from your adoptive parents. Since then we have not recieved any knowledge of how you were doing or any pictures. The last picture we recieved from your adoptive parents you looked exactly like I did when I was a little boy. We have sent pictures of Crystal to the adoptive agency and have been told on your eighteenth birthday you are allowed to view them.
I hope I have provided enough information for you find me. I truly would love to meet you and see how you are doing in life. More importantly I have enclosed enough information so that if you wanted to trace your family tree you can in the future.
I know if you are reading this letter then you must be curious about your background and are probably searching for us also. You have never been a secret in our family and all members would welcome any contact you choose to have with us.
We do completely understand if you do not want to communicate with us but hope that one day you can see it in your heart to let us know how you are doing.
I am sending copies of this letter to the Department of Children's Services, Post Adoption Services, 436 Sixth Av. North, Nashville TN 37243-1290 (615) 532-5637 and to St. Peters/Catholic Charities, Inc., P. O. Box 41705, 1325 Jefferson St., Memphis, TN 38104-2013 with hopes that one day you will want to search your records. It is my understanding that I can not get access to your records but when you turn the age of 18 you can request information.
I hope in some small way I have helped you in answering at least a few questions that you might have about yourself and background.
