Summery: My take on how Quantum Leap may have ended if Jareth had been involved.
He was in his eighties by now. Tired of going from place to place,
righting that what once went wrong. He ended up in this strange land
of orange skies and dark clouds and a large maze of huge stone
walls. From the top of the hill in the deep distance he heard a baby
cry. He knew this would be the last life he saved, he was dying
anyway and even though he never again saw his friends and family he
had done right by doing the good deed. He slowly walked toward the
entrance where a strange little man was spraying bugs. The little man
didnt even notice him. He walked into the Labyrinth unaware of how
true his former thought of death would be. He met a British speaking
worm, talking doors, rocks that moved on its own.
Suddenly he met a large hairy creature. He had walked a long time and
could hardly speak anymore. But the creature who called himself Ludo
knew what the man wanted to do. He took him for many miles and they
met a small dog-man named Sir Didimus who also knew of his coming.
"His Majesty awaits."
They helped him through all the perils of the Labyrinth until they
came to the castle of Jareth the Goblin King. A man with big 1980's
hair and holding a small crystal sat in a large throne. He smiled at
him and motioned for him to sit.
"I have watched you for some time and your intentions and deeds are
honorable and good. I repect that. So you have come to save the child
you heard. But you are an old man now and no challenge to me. So this
one time I will return the child to its home for your courage thus
far. I know your sadness as well. Look into the crystal."
In the crystal he saw his wife now also old, his daughter, friends
and grandchildren. They were all happy and well. The man smiled and
tears formed in his eyes.
"What now you must want something in return?"
The Goblin King nodded. "You must stay here, not as a goblin of
course but as part of my world. Do you agree??"
The man nodded; happy he had completed this he final leap.
The Goblin King waved his hand and the man was turned to stone
forever remembered and free of his long journey. But Jareth did not
keep the statue in his world as promised, instead he posed as human
and donated the statue to the foundation started and continued by his
daughter.
And so, Dr. Sam Beckett finally at peace free from leaping finally
returned home.
THE END.
