Quick Summary of Draft/Keeper Todo:

Step A.            (Only for New Owners) – Draft Roster to base Keepers on.  Deadline for this draft is 02/22/2005.

Step B.             Rank your keepers from #1 thru 11 and email me ([email protected]).  Deadline for this is 02/25/2005. 

Step C.            Phase 1 Draft, 2 Rounds.  Format for this draft will be primarily email…just get me the pick you want and I’ll publish it via email to the league.  Tentative Date for this is 03/5/2005 thru 3/20/2005.

After this draft you’ll have 3 players on your roster (your #1 keeper plus your 2 draft picks).  Then your remaining 7 highest keepers are added to your roster to make 10 players.

Step D.            Phase 2 Draft, 10 Rounds.  This is the “big” draft, and will occur via live online format (i.e., Yahoo).  Tentative date for this is 3/25/2005.

League Format:  There are two divisions (Britney Spears and Paris Hilton) of 6 teams, teams will play head to head for 16 weeks.  In head-to-head format, you will play another team for one week.  Your cumulative team stats for the week versus your opponents cumulative teams stats for the week will determine the winner for the week.  The regular season is roughly from April thru July, while playoffs are tentatively set for August.  Four teams make the playoffs, which includes the top two teams from the Britney and Paris divisions.  Each playoff series will be a two-week series.

Roster Format:  There are 20 Players on the Roster.  Each week, you start 14 players:  Ca, 1b, 2b, SS, 3b, OF, OF, OF, Util/DH, SP, SP, SP, RP, RP.  Thus, there will be 6 “bench” spots, also there will be 2 additional “DL” spots for players that are “officially” injured.  You will be able to change your starters at any given time during the week.

Keepers: This is a keeper league from last year.  Eight teams are returning from last year’s 14 team league.  This year, there are 12 teams including 4 new team.  The 4 new owners will get to select rosters from  the 6 available rosters.  There will be “Roster Draft” for this, order will be chosen at random.  Reverse of the “Roster Draft” order will be applied to the new owner’s pick in the player draft.

Once you have your roster, you will select 11 keepers, and rank them 1 thru 11.  Your #1 ranked player is “franchise tagged” which means they cannot be drafted by any other team during any of the drafts.  The rest of your 10 keepers can be drafted, however, if one of your players is drafted, your highest ranked remaining player will automatically be franchise tagged.  In total, you can only have a maximum of 3 of your 11 keepers “plucked” (i.e., if 3 players are taken from your list of 11, all remaining players on your list are franchise tagged).  Thus, the worst case scenario would be to lose 3 of your top 6 players. 

Draft: There will be a 2-Phase draft.  Prior to either phase, you must specify your top 11 “keepers” (see above).  The Phase 1 draft is just 2 rounds, and it snakes.  Phase 1 draft order is based on reverse order of last year’s standings – new owners are awarded picks 2, 5, 8, and 11 in the draft.  Phase 1 draft will occur via email/phone/AIM…since it is only two rounds, just get the info to me and I’ll publish it to everyone.  The Phase 2 draft is a 10 round draft, snaked based on the reverse order of the Phase 1 draft.  Phase 2 draft will occur via live online draft format.
