Simon Alexander Poche, born in 1831 in St. James Parish, Louisiana. Served in the Civil War.
Little Red Church, first constructed of logs about 1740. The church burned and was rebuilt in 1806. It was a famous riverboat landmark, 25 miles from New Orleans where boat captains traditionally paid off their crews. It burned again in 1921 and was replaced by St. Charles Borromeo Church, located on River Road in Destrehan, Louisiana.
