| Muggle and "T.V." | ||||||
| The "television set" is best known for its use to calm and entertain most Muggles, of all ages. They usually shorten it to "teevee," perhaps so they would not overuse their vocal cords. To use the television set, one would require a power called "electricity" (ee-leck-trih-sit-ee). This is obtained from the Muggle electricity generator through wires strung to one's house and routed through. One can only get this electricity by paying the city in which one lives a varied amount of Muggle money. Once that is done, the Muggles at the generator start sending electricity power to the payer's house. The functions of the television are limited but simple; by pressing a few buttons the television set will generate a moving picture similar to our own. Because pictures taken from a Muggle camera will never move, this is the only way Muggles can do something remotely similar to our lifestyle. The pictures create a "story" which can sometimes be called a "sitcom," or a "soap opera" (ah-purr-uh), popular with Muggles older than 10 years. If the story is hand drawn, it may be called a "car tune." (Reasons for this odd name are currently being researched.) The car tunes are popular with Muggles of all ages, although the youths are drawn to it more often than adults. Also, the television set can be used to transmit news to Muggles worldwide. Currently nothing more is known about the television set. For more details, contact the Ministry of Magic and have them redirect you to the Muggle-related department. (Caution: Please do not try to ask Muggles about their television set. They will become confused as they are under the illusion that you are one of their own kinds and already know about, or possibly even own, a television set.) |
