I wll never forget tis date as long as I live. I was working in NEO-Pack (packaging operator) I was working for World Kitchen on that fateful day. When I first heard it on the radio, my co-workers thought that I was joking and they were waiting for the punch line. "NO, IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED!", I said. Just then another bulleten came accross the radio saying that the second tower had been hit. We all began to gather around the radio and we also heard of a plane going down near Somerset in the little town of Shanksville. This was too close for comfort. You see, we are only about 60-70 miles away from the crash. Then I heard that they had closed classes at Carlow College which is where my daughter is going to school. I tried to call her, but I couldn't get through. I then called my mother in Belle Vernon and she had gotten hold of her, but was then cut off. Later, I found out that emergency personel were using these phone lines for the disaster. When I got home, I e-mailed her. Fortunatly, she was checking her mail right after I sent it. She was OK. My wife had just started her new job as a receptionist for 84 Lumber. She was worried too about Robin. My other daughter was out of school (she goes to Douglas School of Business in Monessen PA) and she too was worried because she had heard that it was nearly imposible to get out of Pittsburgh.
As it all turned out, we were OK. However, I was talking to one of my co-workers and she said that her daughter's roommates nextdoor neighbor was the pilot of the first plane to crash into the World Trade Towers. It actually struck closer than I thought!
PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT WITH ME NOW AND REMEMBER THE VICTOMS AND THEIR FAMILIES WHO LOST THEIR LIVES IN THIS UNBELIEVABLE TRADGY!
