| The Making of Iceflame (as told by Jebidiah) Characters: Jebidiah (Steve), Raul (GT), Chris (Ryan), Sean (Shane) Setting: Saarmen Area I had just gotten a new ability for my sword, raise dead, and I was enjoying turning our dead foes into skeletons. We were adventuring outside Saarmen in local caves and other places like that fighting some of the nearby baddies to expand our wealth and treasure. Each monster we killed I made another skeleton (I could only have up to five at a time) to amuse myself. The skeletons weren't very helpful in battle or anything else, but it was fun. Chris, the sorcerer, had two very nice swords that he never used. I always tried to convince him that I would put them to better use, but he never let me have them. One of them was a sword of frost, and the other was a sword of fire. Of course Chris found someway to justify his keeping the sword, weather it be to use one as a torch, or use the other to make a popcicle. There was a rumor that certain magical items of conflicting elements or energies, when touched, would create a big explosion and would meld into one. I always wanted to find out if it was true, and Chris was the perfect specimen. After a fight with three orcs on our way back to Saarmen, I raised the skeletons and ordered two of them to restrain the weak caster when he wasn't expecting it. I backed away a good distance taking Sean and Raul with me (who were dumbfounded as to what was going on) and then ordered the third orc to take those two swords and clash them together. What followed was the most amazing sight the group saw (except for Chris). It was a small mushroom cloud of red and blue swirls that cleared out approximately a thrity-foot radius. We rushed toward Chris, whom was barely alive and heard a faint swhishing sound. We looked up and saw a sword falling from the sky at a very fast speed. We jumped back and the sword impaled Chris. Chris, still barely alive and in much pain, started cursing at me. Paying no attention, we all looked at the sword. There stuck a longsword with flames of ice running down it. I reached forward and pulled it out. Sean stepped up and said that it was still Chris's sword, and that I shouldn't take it. After a moment I agreed, and stuck it right back where I found it. This final blow finally killed Chris. After resurrecting Chris, we continued on and had a new weapon to argue about. As time passed on the sword changed owners many times. The sword is still in the party today. I'm not sure who the final ower will be, but I will know who the creator is, and that's what really matters. |
